Embellished Quart Size Zipper Bag featuring PEACEFUL NOEL and UNDER THE MISTLETOE!

Project 47 (1)

Hi Stampin’ Peeps!

Yes, I did just cover a quart-sized food storage bag with beautiful Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper!! LOL!! 😀

This idea came from a craft vid I saw on Facebook, only they were using duct tape to cover the bag and make it waterproof! I thought it was a cool idea, and wondered if I could do the same with DSP! (Duh! Of course, I can!)

So, it’s not super easy, but it’s not hard either, and the only set-back is there isn’t a lot of wiggle room once your bag is covered. That means whatever you put inside has to be flat…because it’s a Christmas/Holiday themed bag, I figured cookies would be a great choice! 🙂

Project 47 (2)

You can put four regular sized cookies inside the bag!

Here’s how to make it:

You’ll need two pieces of UNDER THE MISTLETOE DSP. One for the front of your bag, and one for the back:
The front piece measures: 9-1/8in x 7-1/2in
The back piece measures: 7-3/4in x 6-3/4in

First, score the front piece at 1/2in on the two short sides, and on one long side. Then, cut out the small little squares in the two corners. Your DSP should look like this:

Next, place a small piece of TEAR & TAPE near each corner on the back of your DSP. (The pieces in my pic aren’t even, and that’s fine. Use about a 1in piece for each corner.) NOT PICTURED, BUT IMPORTANT: Also put a long piece of TEAR & TAPE across the top of your DSP. In the pic below, it would go where the 9-1/8 mark is written:

After your bag is attached, put TEAR & TAPE along the length of all three 1/2in pieces, and fold them over the bag. (There isn’t a pic for this step, but first fold in the two short sides, and then fold up the bottom.) You want the adhesive along the full length of each piece to secure the paper to the bag, and give your bag a nice finished back.

Next, put TEAR & TAPE along all four sides of the small piece of DSP. The pic below says on three sides, but you need to secure all FOUR sides. (Again, put the adhesive along the whole length of each edge to secure the back on.)

And finally, attach the back to your bag. This step is a little tricky to line up, so use the zipper as a guide so the top is straight, but don’t forget to make sure you are covering the folded over DSP on both sides.

Project 47 (6)

PHEW! The hard part is done!

Now you just need to stamp your sentiment, and attach the bow!

For the sentiment, I used three stamps from the upcoming PEACEFUL NOEL Stamp Set. I arranged all three stamps on one block, and then stamped once!

Here are the measurements for the Cardstock and DSP layers:
Whisper White Cardstock: 2-1/4in x 2-3/4in
Under the Mistletoe DSP: 2-3/4in x 3-1/4in
Real Red Cardstock: 3-1/4in x 3-3/4in

I layered all three with SNAIL, and then used STAMPIN’ DIMENTIONALS to attach the sentiment to the bag! For the bow, I attached the REAL RED 3/8in COTTON RIBBON to the bag with a GOLD LIBRARY CLIP, and then tied a bow around the clip!

And…you’re done! 🙂

I’ve listed all the supplies used below, including the new PEACEFUL NOEL Stamp Set which debuts in the Holiday Catalog on September 5! If you need a Holiday Catalog, click here!

Happy Stampin’! 🙂
